"With homosexuals now able to serve openly in the military, the gay rights movement’s next battleground is to persuade the Obama administration to end the armed forces’ ban on “transgenders,” a group that includes transsexuals and cross-dressers. "
country is in debt with faltering economy
at war with two overseas nations
worrying about men wearing skirts in the military
.
So you're saying you're good with it.
Oh come on liberals, should the military accomodate transexual, crossdressers, and transgendered or not?
Can they pass a standard physical exam?
it might make for an interesting pysch-op if we had a transgendered regiment fighting in some of the muslim countries.
Um, wasn’t Klinger actually trying to get out, not wanting to stay in?
Personally, I wouldn’t give a shit as long as they met the required uniform/performance standards on the job; what flavor of sex parts they prefer to go down on on their own time doesn’t concern me. One of the old arguments used to be that being in the closet made them susceptible to blackmail, so not having to hide their preference would alleviate that just as long as they didn’t bring it to work with them, much like any other job (and yes, I realize it’s not just like any other job… I lived for 2 years each on a cruiser and an amphib, and I had to deal with enough incompetent dirtbags who were presumably straight that i’d gladly have traded working with a guy who was queer as 2 left shoes who at least bathed regularly and relieved the watch on time.)
Good with the cross-dressers wearing the uniform of the alternate sex, or are you going to force them to do what's un-natural? Which bathroom should they go to?
Not sure. Personally, don’t really care. Of all the things that bothered me about being in the military, some dude checking out my junk in the shower or keeping a cache of gay porn in his locker didn’t make the Top 100.
Seems like you’re really reaching for an angle to argue about; I just don’t see this huge groundswell of trannies beating down the door trying to get into the military and fancy it up. The people I’ve seen who were fighting DADT were pretty much just trying to fit in otherwise. If they can do the job they’re trained to do, great. If not, they should get the boot just like anyone else.
I’m w/ Jack… This ‘debate’ is really kind of a silly diversion.
Actually wondering about liberals thoughts on the subject. Of course it could be nice to tell them you're a woman in a guy's body, and should therefore shower with the chicks... And I disagree about fancying things up, as most military bases certainly could use someone with an eye for decorating. :)
ps. Guess what I’m asking is that from a liberal POV, is there any limit (if so, what) as to what they think the military can and should accommodate?
You will never get a straight answer…once a Liberal gives you a limit they are done…on any subject.
**Oh come on liberals, should the military accomodate transexual, crossdressers, and transgendered or not? **
No,
It’s time for the special interest groups to realize most people have more important things to do than worry about than them.
realistically speaking no, I don’t think so. I don’t know any “crossdressers” who do so at work–crossdressing sort of by definition is more of an activity than an identity, so I don’t think the military has any business setting limits on people who like to wear skirts in their free time. Transgendered folks are a slightly stickier issue, but honestly I don’t see a good reason for the military to reject them within certain parameters (ie don’t undergo a transition while deployed etc).
