Klagenfurt Bike Shops

Hi,

Can anybody recommend any bike shops and directions in Klagenfurt for any possible repairs and bike check after travelling.

Thank-you,

Doug.

I can’t recommend any, but I emailed the bike shop IM A posted on their website and they said they could do any/all repairs and work, usually while I waited. Not much help, but it’s something.

Last year the bike shop was set up in the expo village the week before the race. Not sure which day but I think I had some work done on wed.

Not to change the suject, but is there anyone heading to Klagenfurt for IM Austria and shipping their bike direclty?

I’ve discovered it’s an extremely expensive proposition (more than the entry fee) and would like to verify that there are no other options.

Last year there were 3 of us and it was very expensive so we elected to pay the airline. The cabs we took to the hotel were very acommodiating in getting our bikes there with us

airline for me… both FedEx and their recommended shipper were outrageously expensive. United said the bike would be free on an international flight, we’ll see when I check in.

Again, not to change the subject, but doesn’t look like great weather - rain through Wednesday before.

There are 2 good bike-shops:

One down-town “Fahrrad Kropfitsch, Stauderplatz 8” (When you enter down-town from the race-arena, between the Lendlkanal and the bus-station) http://www.kropfitsch.at/fahrrad/Index.htm. Has all kinds of bikes and some tri-equipment.

Radsport Geros is a very nice shop for roadies, have a lot of nice bikes and knowledge about bikes (but no tri-specific stuff). Is located in Lambichl, approx 10 km from down-town and race-arena. The bike leg passes the shop at the end of the loop, approx 10 km before T2 (on the right side of the road.).

United said the bike would be free on an international flight, we’ll see when I check in.
United told me the same thing…it’s considered an alloted piece of check in luggage. My situation is a bit different. We arrive in Frankfurt this week and will be vacationing prior to the race. If I check the bike in at the airport I’m stuck hauling it around Germany/Austria via the train. For enjoyment of our first trip to Europe that seems like a huge burden to deal with on a day to day basis. I’ll probably eat the cost unless anyone has some last minute suggestions.
