We’re in the planning stages for a kitchen remodel and are thinking of putting in a 48" range. We can’t go top of the line (Wolf/Viking/etc. are out!) but are thinking of one of the more budget friendly brands (maybe Kucht or Kitchenaid). And I know those even have a big difference in price.
Has anyone bought a professional quality range and liked/disliked it? Any regrets? We cook a lot and I think we would utilize it. Plus, they look just damn sweet.
We’re in the middle of a kitchen remodel now and went with a Blue Star; although not the 48" where we weren’t changing the footprint of our kitchen. If we were expanding, would definitely have done it since we both like to cook.
We are the party house and ideally need two ovens. And neither of us really like the separate cook top. So we are either 36†single oven or just go for it with a 48â€.
And then there is the fridge. I never expected it to be so easy to drop so much in appliances.
We went 30", it worked better for our kitchen (which is small) but we also came up with some additional counter space so that size worked better. The larger one looked really nice and we definitely would have used it, but went with the more practical option.
Might want to look Electrolux range. I had an awesome duel fuel ( Electric oven) and gas burners at my last house. You should also really look into a vented hood with removable baffles, twin fans, and a 6 inch vent pipe. Commercial or even commercial like but out a lot of BTU’s in the kitchen not to mention smoke.
48 is a bit of a problem on the budget side. 36" or 60" would open up more options.
You want a professional range, don’t go half assed.
American Range, Cooking Performance Group
Check you local supply store for used equipment - restaurants go out of business every day, their ranges go somewhere
We’re planning now, for a while now. Priced Wolf/Subzero, Thermador, and GE. Definitely going 48" for the oven space. We don’t have room for a wall mounted double oven. We’re just not sure on the brand yet. All burners on top, no grill or griddle. I do that stuff in the outdoor kitchen.

6"?? I’d say 10". In most of our Reno’s we are putting in 10 in pipe.
As for the OP, there are a few brands out there that don’t have the high output of a wolf/Viking and are cheaper. Can’t speak to their reliability or quality ask have no experience with them but you might want to check them out. Bertazzoni is one I can recall off the top of my head, another is Thor.
If you switch to a 36" would that allow room for a second oven elsewhere? You will have way more options with a 36" range.

Induction is our backup. We don’t have gas and so would have to hook up propane. It’s a decent alternative, I just like gas so much.
Definitely going with a hood, as well. Current home doesn’t have one and it drives me crazy.

That’s the third main option. Go with a 36†then a combo microwave/convection oven on the side. It would also work.
We completed a kitchen remodel in the last 9 months. We went with a 48†Thermador steam/combo oven and love it. Search your contacts for someone who might work for Bosch. Ask them about discounts.
48â€, semi-budget friends, Kitchenaid or Cafe. The kitchenaid is going to have a variety of burners, some larger and some smaller simmer burners, while the cafe has 6x18k but burners across the entire cooktop.
Oh, and if you’re doing 48â€, do a dual fuel. If you say you’ll cook a lot, having the gas top and the electric convection oven is worth it.
We just bought a house this month. It has a 36" Thermador along with another built in oven on the other wall of cabinets. Only had the chance to cook on it a couple of times so far, but DAMN. It is the by far the best stove/oven that I have cooked with. Heat is amazingly even. Has a really cool “low” mode that turns the burner on and off at intervals. Of course someone put in the Thermador range hood with built in warming lamps. Not sure if I will ever use it to its full potential.
