Any of you guys have one of these? I’m thinking of getting a titanium kinetic watch for the man for Christmas. Specifically the Seiko model. Any thoughts?

Damn. I thought with the 6 month power reserve (or whatever they call it) it would keep time correctly.
Well, I don’t want to get hime something that doesn’t work quite right. Back to the drawing board.
How is the Seiko different from any self-winding watch? What is the cost?
I don’t know how they are different from any other bself winding watch. They run between $200-500.
I got one of the early Seiko Kinetics for my college graduation. Lasted about 3 years before it wouldn’t hold a charge.
It is now just sitting in one of our junk drawers in our house.
I don’t mean to sabotage your thread but this watch is supposed to measure your pulse. I wonder if it really works.
**I ran with it once and it lost two minutes. **
Maybe you are getting faster.
I’ve been thinking about watches a lot lately. I wear a Timex Ironman watch everywhere. Doesn’t really go with my worth clothes. After looking at some new watches, I have decided I’m going to find a nice old watch. Maybe something from the 1920s or 1930s (I really don’t care). It’s gotta look good, and I don’t care if I have to wind it. Haven’t quite found the one I want yet, but I’ll keep looking.
I guess I’ll just get him an ipod.
I guess I’ll just get him an ipod.
No no no, don’t give up. Nothing says “I didn’t give you much thought this year” like an ipod. I have a nice Titanium Suunto watch that cost around $500. It is digital but ultracool.
He makes donations to all charitible organizations I ask him to. He buys really great gifts for everyone he loves, he should have something fun to open up too.
While he could easily buy hinself an ipod, he won’t. Although I know he would enjoy it on runs or in the gym. I’d love to get him one of those XM satellite radios, but there is no service in Hawaii.
Edit: My disposable income is not that great, so saying his is greater than mine is not saying he’s Ted Turner.
Excellent numbering on you bulleted list. ;->

Okay Katy, that’s cool!!! Where did you get the delta?

To the post-iPods are cool. Make sure an iPod is what he wants though. I listen to audio books a lot, and I have found that a good quality MP3 rather than an iPod is better for that. Mostly because I can download them from my library for free in a WMA format. iPod does not support that. Just something to consider.
Before you give up completely on the idea, give what Peter said some thought. You can buy older watches (1930s - 50s) for a few hundred dollars and they have a ton of character and you don’t see them everywhere. You could look up “watch repair” in the phone book and go to a small independent shop and just see what they have. An old Hamilton shined up on a nice Alligator strap would be a beautiful gift, and none of his buddies will get one this year.
Bought one for the wife a few years ago. Lasted about one year before it started messing up. We’ve sent it in twice, but always the same problem…it stops ticking. This is an active 32 year old mother of three! There is no way she is not moving her wrist enough, just with all the spankings she has to dole out over a day! It looks great, just doesn’t work. After 20 minutes of vigorous shaking she can get a few days out of it and wears it for special occasions now. I’d recommend against it.

I’d go with ipod because its what I have and I’ll be the one teaching him how to use it. Once we are not an ocena apart the plan is to share a household, so i think its a good idea to keep it simple.
Hmmm…at least get the iPod engraved. That would be cool enough.
