Kindle users: Can I get The Economist on it?

Anyone here use a kindle or kindle 2?

I’m an avid reader of the economist, it would be great to be able to read the economist on it. Do figures show up on that thing?

Have you gotten the Kindle yet? Let me/us know how you like it…

Amazon does not list the Economist as directly available for the Kindle (now Kindle 2), which is a pity as I’d switch my print subscription in a heartbeat to the (usually cheaper) Kindle subscription. You could get a digital subscription to the Economist and when your new issue gets emailed to you, email the PDF file to the Kindle and have Amazon convert it for you and send it to the Kindle.

And yes, graphics do show up - the Kindle 2 is faster about showing graphics (v1 was a bit pokey) and v2 has better gray-scale (but no color) - I think v1 had 4-bit gray-scale (16 shades of gray) where the new v2 has either 8 or 16 bit (256 or 65,536) shades of gray.

Nope…my chances of purchasing it would go up astronomically if I could get the economist on it though.

Check http://www.amazon.com/kindlestore

Does not look like it.

But, get iphone and then Kindle for iPhone (free from app store)

that’s the link I couldn’t find…thanks!

and you’re right, no economist.

Nope, it’s 4 shades of gray in V1 to 16 shades in V2.

forget the kindle, you can now download the economist as an mp3. The entire publication on audio - even letters to the editor and corrections are on there!

It’s amazing - actually each edition is about 80 mp3 files so its easy to scan from one article to the next.

Can you comment on The Economist site from the kindle?

I should be getting an email any minute letting me know that the current issue is available for download. Big fan.
