Key West winds

Doing the Key West Triathlon in December… The road looks a bit rough (from google maps), but it also is super exposed. Anyone have any suggestions/tips for riding along the shore of the island?

Also, should I get a disc cover for this race or just roll with a Flo60/90?

I raced the Bone Island 70.3 back in January of this year. Depending on where the bike course takes you

sorry, my last reply got cut off. If the bike course takes you up the A1A, its gets pretty windy up there. Pretty good gusts on the causeway too. The roads are in decent shape, but it is a fairly bumpy ride. There were plenty of people on the side with flats. If this is where the course takes you, I would probably forego the disc, especially if you don’t have one yet. If you are staying on the island, it is pretty well protected from the winds. It is a small island, so I think you would be fine with a disc cover.

It is not any windier than riding Miami, Tampa or anywhere else. ]

Don’t know where you are coming from but the course is mega flat minus one tiny bridge.
It is also a short Tri so if you think disc will make you faster rock it.
