He lived here in AZ when he started racing, so he’s been a friend for a long time. Moved to CA and is now a firefighter. In 2010, he made the AG podium at Kona and I gave him my ticket to the awards banquet so his wife could go with him.
Pretty benign race conditions around here this year. Mild temps, overcast, and dry. High temps around the Verde Valley in the 60s tomorrow.
Might be a bit chilly going over Mingus tonight.

Well, K-Tad was on a suicide pace and DNF’ed around mile 83.
Still a very long way to go, but Rachel winning the overall would be amazing.

A runner at the 2026 Cocodona 250 experienced a medical emergency during the event and died Wednesday, organizers announced.
In a social media post, organizers said a participant experienced a “serious medical emergency,” which resulted in their death. Organizers did not reveal the identity of the participant “out of respect for the runner’s family and loved ones.”
They also announced that the ultramarathon would continue, and urged other participants to “carry the memory of this runner with you on the trail.”
That’s incredibly sad.
