March 5 Taupo NZ, NZ Ironman!!! I watched with interest when what seemed like half the feild came out on cervelos!! but what I would like to know is what is faster the Kestrel Air Foil Pro or the Cervelo P3??
How would anyone possibly know…
It would be easy to say that the Airfoil with a disc might be a tad faster than the P3 with a disc. Without a disc - the P3 may be a tad faster…it would also be easy to say the the Airfoil would be more comfy as its carbon but what about the P3C? I don’t know how different the geometries are - and if the fit would be similar…also I have no idea how either handles.
10 people will chime in and say buy the one that fits…
Another 10 will say its the engine…
I have not ridden either and I bet they are fairly close but I really have no idea…they are both on my “possible new tri-bike list” - I have very similar questions but no answers.
Any Airfoil owners out there want to comment about how they like their bike? I have heard very little about it…a lot of people loved their KM40’s…
Sorry for such a useless post.
Dave
I have had a couple of KM 40’s…get a P3C…
I have both a P3 and a Kestrel Airfoil Pro. Both set Up roughly the same with the exact measurements. (Zipp wheels, DuraAce, Profile front end, etc)
No doubt that the P3 is stiffer, but frankly the comfort of the Airfoil more than makes up for it. For me, I can stay in the Aero position a heck of a lot longer on the Kestrel. I just like it better.
Kestrel is smoother and more comfortable. Also for some strange reason, I climb better on it.
The P3 is super stiff but you are going to feel it later.
In NZ the kestrel is actually cheaper than the P3 so sounds like a good choice
