Did anyone notice if any of the teams in the Tour of CA rode Kestrel Airfoils in the time trials? Or know of any teams that ride them?
nope.
kestrel airfoils are not uci-approved.
They don’t have a full seat tube so are illegal.
interesting… thanks
Rock Racing uses the Kestrel road bike, but for the time trials they rode the Fuji D6. Not such a stretch as Kestrel and Fuji are sister companies.
As others have posted, not yet is the answer. The Airfoil Pro is not designed for UCI events. It’s one of the few bikes made just for triathletes.
That said, Kestrel will have a new UCI legal bike out for 2010. If all goes well, it will make it’s debut at this year’s HI IM and also will be under a few Rock Racing riders later this year.
A few more trips to the A2 Wind Tunnel for testing and I’ll be ready to release it.
For now, Rock Racing is borrowing bikes from Kestrel’s sister company Fuji. The D6 is a great bike and is UCI legal.
Hope that helps.
