My Talon SL is making a popping (carbon sound) noise when I am out of the saddle and cranking… Sounds like the thing is cracked. Anyone had this with a carbon frame or Kestrel?
Same thing happening here with my talon. It might be coming from my pedal. Can’t seem to localize it. I have searched the frame and can’t seem to find anything.

Maybe at the bonded sections?
That was my thought…
sometimes it comes from the forks, Like it needs to be tightened in the headset.
Take to the shop where you bought it.
My carbon Giant used to do that but not so much anymore.
And I have never heard it from my GRIFFEN or my specialiazed so maybe it is carbon
I had the same thing with mine last year…drove me crazy! Brand new bikes should not be making that kind of noise. I took mine to the shop and they said it was the internal cables…they weren’t the right ones. They changed the cables to ones that fit and I haven’t heard the noise since. Hopefully yours is the same…
Check the BB- could be loose.
Same thing on my old OCLV- was convinced that the frame was cracked. Had about 2500 miles on it at the time. Tightened the BB and it was fine.
Mine used to make funny noises - cable outers crashing around inside of top tube!
It was just the headset. Came with a cheap one and I dripped quite a bit of sweat on it!
I had this problem with my new Kestrel Talon a couple of years ago. Took it back to the shop where I bought it (Nytro) and they said frame must be cracked. They couldn’t get a return authorization from Kestrel and as far as they seemed to be concerned that was the end of their problem. I badgered them to contact Kestrel again so we could find a resolution. Finally, I talked them into changing the bottom bracket at Kestrel’s suggestion (all the time them insisting it was the frame that was cracked)… Viola’ problem solved. The most annoying thing was that they charged me labor to fix a problem that came with a brand new bike that they built up.
I go to a different shop now - but the Kestrel’s been a sweet ride ever since!

It is almost ALWAYS the BB…those frames rarely just crack…
