Katie Hoff - Very Inspirational!

We just got home from the second day of the Eastern Classic, a swim meet being held at Dynamos Swim Club in Chamblee GA. Katie Hoff has been there Saturday and Sunday and will be there Monday as well. She already had three pool records and broke three more this weekend. Michael Phelps has about half of the mens pool records. There are 5 or 6 teams here from Mobile, AL to Baltimore, MD and the kids just can’t get enough of her. The coaches have told the kids to leave her alone during the meet, but afterwords there’s a line a mile long - all the kids wanting her autograph or to say “hello.”

I sat behind a women and her daughter. The daughter is 9 and swims at Dyanmos. They came both nights to see Katie. Bob Bowman, her coach and Michael Phelps coach, sat poolside the entire meet coaching Katie and giving feedback on other young swimmers. On the way home, my 12-year-old girl and her friend could not stop talking about Katie. Anyway, there’s a lot of bad in the world, but a whole bunch of good too. It’s just great to see a 3x Olympic Medalist interacting with America’s future stars. Rock on!

Such a better role model than a Terrel Owens or Plexico Burress.

Glad to hear you and you family had a great weekend.

Katie Hoff is very nice. I have never met a swimmer with an attitude problem, that includes guys like Peirsol, Rowdy Gains, and Larsen Jensen. All super down to earth

its not to hard to be a better role model then TO
.

I agree, and if your kids need a role model and it’s not you, they’re screwed. As are you!

I thought Paul Yetter was Katie Hoff’s coach. But I know they changed things up a bit in the past few months at NBAC.

What KILLS me is the perception that she somehow “failed” at the Olympics by not getting a gold medal. That kills me, especially when those making such assinine statements couldn’t swim 50 yards without gasping.

I too thought Yetter was her coach and is still affiliated with NBAC. Who knows, though.

Bob

Hey, I am not a swim expert and may have mispsoke on the coach. I just saw her getting feedback from Bowman after an event. I don’t want to start any rumors!

BALTIMORE, Maryland, November 17. While not as dramatic of a coaching move as various other world-class swimmers have made of late since she will still represent the North Baltimore Aquatic Club (NBAC), Katie Hoff has decided to make a coaching change according to the Baltimore Sun.

The chance to work with the architect of the greatest swimmer of all time, Michael Phelps, proved too enticing for Hoff to remain with Paul Yetter. With Phelps’ coach Bob Bowman returning to take over NBAC, Hoff had the chance to work with him while not having to move.

“It was a very tough choice,” Hoff told the Baltimore Sun. “Paul is obviously a great coach and he helped me out a lot. It’s just time for a change and I’m looking forward to working with Bob”.

NEW YORK – Swimmer Katie Hoff has changed coaches after a disappointing Olympics in which the six-time world champion failed to win a gold medal in a half dozen events.
Hoff is working with Michael Phelps’ coach, Bob Bowman, who has returned to her North Baltimore Aquatic Club after four years at the University of Michigan. Hoff trained with Paul Yetter since before she qualified for the 2004 Olympics as a 15-year-old.
“It’s just the way things have transformed, and Bob’s back, and it’s just time for a change for, I think, both of us,” Hoff told The Associated Press on Sunday, a day before USA Swimming’s annual Golden Goggle Awards banquet.

Ever meet Gary Hall, Jr?

.

A few decades ago, but how about Rick Carey?

ha no, he is definitely the most “outspoken” swimmer. I have friends on the race club and they back stand by his back though.

Gary Hall very much wears his heart on his sleeve, which frequently leads to foot in mouth issues. But he’s very passionate about seeing the sport grow and prosper and has put a lot of his own time and money to do that, and has also drawn raves for the work he’s done for diabetes awareness.
