Just a head’s up for any Karen Smyers fans that her documentary is showing on Versus today at 4pm (mtn) on “Fearless.” It’s a replay…I saw it the first time and it’s worth watching.

Yes, she is a very cool person. I have spoken to her several times and she is very friendly and down to earth.
I saw that when it aired last year. I was a casual fan before I saw it but after seeing it she has become one of my favorite pros. Well worth watching.

Here’s some insight about Karen’s family that always makes me smile when I read or see anything about Karen:
Years and years and years ago—the late 70’s, I was a college swimmer home for the Summer. Karen was an age grouper on the team i was training with. She was a very good swimmer then. At our state swimming championships between trials and finals, Karen’s mom invited our team over for lunch and to relax at their house which was sort of near the pool. It was a really nice time. We got to meet most of their family and had a great lunch. Plus we were well rested for that night’s finals. I remember thinking ‘Gosh those are some nice people’. Little did I know that later she would turn out to be such a champ at tri’s. I still think about that time way back when…
