"Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.) said Friday that she does not support abolishing private health insurance in the United States, saying she misheard a question from NBC’s moderators about Medicare-for-all during the presidential debate.
Thursday night, Harris alone joined Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in raising her hand when all of the candidates were asked if they would outlaw private health insurance in favor of a government single-payer plan.
But appearing on “Morning Joe†on Friday, Harris suggested she had incorrectly heard the question as being about whether she personally would be willing to use a government plan instead of a private one. "

I doubt many will accuse me of supporting Harris, and I’m a bit nervous about her. That being said, I can’t reconcile your first sentence with the next paragraph. Seeking life in prison versus the death penalty doesn’t make me think she loves cop killers. Maybe she has strong convictions about the death penalty that she sticks with even when it is unpopular. I cannot fault anyone for that.
FTR - I am not bothered when the death penalty is carried out, but I think that for some people it is the easy way out. Take Timothy Mcveigh for example. I would like to have seen him spend the rest of his life in general population or even better - solitary confinement. The people he killed didn’t get to choose how and when they died, so neither should he.

Once the opposition zeros in on who they think will be the nominee, they will set phasors to kill. Lots of time, and things could change, but looks to me like a Biden, Bernie, and Harris final 3 at the moment. In a clip of the Friday event, the questioner, wondering why congressional Democrats have declined to move forward on impeachment proceedings, asked Harris what she was “going to do in the next one year to diminish the mentally retarded actions” by Trump.
“Well said,” Harris responded as the crowd applauded before adding, “I plan to win this election. I’ll tell you that.”
The Harris campaign referred The Hill to an interview Harris did with CBS’s Caitlin Huey-Burns on Saturday, in which Harris said the man’s use of the phrase was “not something that I really heard or processed.”
Harris also tweeted a video of her conversation with Huey-Burns and said she had not heard the person saying the word but apologized.
“When my staff played the video from my town hall yesterday, it was upsetting.” Harris tweeted. “I didn’t hear the words the man used in that moment, but if I had I would’ve stopped and corrected him. I’m sorry. That word and others like it aren’t acceptable. Ever.”
I am not sure why we are wasting any more time with her or her campaign. She’s dead like the proverbial door nail;

Kampala lost me forever with her tweet about the Ferguson shooting. Not that I was ever on board with her anyway, but that sealed the deal. She’s about as slimy as they come.

Am I missing something? She is opposed to capital punishment and stood by her beliefs even in the midst of public pressure. Isn’t it better to have politicians stand by their beliefs instead of simply going along with public opinion?
I’m strongly opposed to the death penalty but that doesn’t necessarily mean I love cop killers.
