From Kabbalah FAQ (http://www.digital-brilliance.com/kab/faq.htm)
Kabbalah is an aspect of Jewish mysticism. It consists of a large body of speculation on the nature of divinity, the creation, the origin and fate of the soul, and the role of human beings. It consists also of meditative, devotional, mystical and magical practices which were taught only to a select few and for this reason Kabbalah is regarded as an esoteric offshoot of Judaism.
It has also made the leaders of the offshoot a buttload of $$$.
“Celebrity Kaballah” is an offshoot of the offshoot, and fairly absurd if you think about it.
LOL
.
Just curious, why LOL?
The Madonna Kabbalah movement is a pop-psych/quasi religious cult. The only relation to Judaism is in the name.
What, you mean you can’t skip 40 years if intense study of the Torah and Talmud before you get into the real study of the mystecism? Can’t I just buy the bracelet? ![]()
I really have no idea what “celebrty Kaballah” teaches, but I doubt it’s much like the real thing.

Don’t forget about the Kaballah water for $5 a bottle and special edition books in Hebrew that can heal you if you just stare at the pages (understanding the language is optional).
You should read Chaim Potok’s The Book of Lights. It touches on this mystical branch of the Jewish religion and is a great story about the invention of the atomic bomb.

Kabbalah has been around for hundreds of years, with roots going back perhaps even further. So I can assume your LOL was out of pure ignorance, kind of like when someone giggles upon hearing the word, “masticate.”
Yep, hundreds of years is right-written between the 5th and 12th century.
My LOL is at the celebrity version of Kabbalah, but not the historical part of the Jewish faith considered by many traditional Jews to be so holy that it may be studied in its original form only after years of Talmudic study and spiritual maturity.
