After 8 months of waiting I finally was able to get an MRI on my Achilles. It’s all healed now but there is a “crapload of scar tissue”. Radiologists words. My doctor says there isn’t anything he can refer me to that will be covered by my medical coverage. But he suggested I look into k laser and/or prolotherapy to help break it up. He said the likelihood of using massage/graston to break it all up is slim and that even though the pain is minimal when I run/walk (mostly pain from walking) likely just continuing to add to the scarring at the same time I’m reducing it. Running really seems to help it but only to a certain point (mileage), then it causes pain.
Both prolotherapy and k laser will cost about $500. Prolotherapy couple be $1000.
I know both of these help healing and reduce the formation of scar tissue but does either reduce scar tissue that’s already there?
