Justify a new wetsuit?

At what point is a new wetsuit to be considered? Is the answer simply n+1?

I am an adult on set swimmer. I swam 1:11 in my non current assisted IM last year with my Profile Design Bionik2 wetsuit. I bought it on an end of the year clearance 3 or 4 years ago. I would guess to swim a 1:06-1:07 this year at the same IM due to swim fitness and technique advances, in the same wetsuit.

If I were to purchase a new Blueseventy Helix or Roka Maverick Elite, is there any way to estimate what that might do for my swim time?

All I can say is that I love my Roka. The fit is awesome, the reviews are great and it may have mentally helped me to PR this past season with lower swim volume. Or maybe it IS faster than most others…

focus on seeing improvements in the engine before modifying equipment it uses… unless you are trying to kq or something. Triathlon should be about self improvement not equipment improvement.

I should have mentioned that KQ is the goal. I am solidly in the tens with huge nutrition issues that will be worked out by the next race day. I think a slot is a real possibility.

If the suit is already comfortable and fits, I would say you are likely to see zero gains and may actually be slower by going to a new suit.

And yet, Kona allows no wetsuits…

Because you want one. Is there any. Better reason?

But virtually every qualifier does, conundrum……
