No, execution is too soft of a punishment for what he did.

I’ll be perfectly content if he gets put in with the general prison population. A life sentence (or any moderately long sentence, given his age) will be similar enough to a slow and agonizing execution, I would think.

I think 10 years in prison with work release programs will make this person a better citizen of the world. He can go on speaking tours and make a living telling his side of the story. And tell us how he was tortured by the “man” until he confessed to doing something he didnt do.

No, we can’t all agree. He should be punished with the full rigour of Austrian law, no question about that. But people (not only in the US, but around the world) must overcome their love relationship with capital punishment and even more so with the lynching you seem to suggest.
Just put him into Gen Pop. No need for capital punishment or a lynching.

Small windowless cell, water and gruel, lights that don’t go out, no books, no TV, etc." I just don’t like capitol punishment for all of the bleeding heart reasons.
That said I suspect that this guy is going to wish he were dead if put into the general population, and I suspect he will be dead in short order if that that happens. I won’t mind when that happens, and have no problem reconciling that with not wanting him put to death.

He will be going to an Austrian prison. I don’t think they can be compared to e.g. a US prison. Rapists and child molestors are considered the lowest life forms in Austrian prisons as well (probably, I’ve never been to prison, let alone in Austria) and their prison life will be made quite challenging by their fellow inmates, but death incidents are extremely rare.
