Just when you thought only road cyclists were an annoyance to others

Assholes are everywhere.

John

If you think that’s bad you should see the shit drivers do to themselves, man it’s horrifying.

A flat tire would be annoying, but if you were hiking and stepped on that it would really be unpleasant.

Pretty bad.

Just had an announcement on local mountain bike websites about somebody placing glass, sharp edges up, on a local bike trail. Most likely a disgruntled neighbor, although the trail is located on private property (ski hill). Thus this person is trespassing on private property in order to cause harm to mountain bikers who not only built the trails, but do so with the blessing and encouragement of the property owners. This persons sense of self-righteousness is very twisted.

I also saw the same announcement on the trail runners site because many run with their dogs.

The Roaring Fork Valley (colorado) is a twisted place. First there are the eco-freaks who think that riding a bicycle on dirt is despoiling nature. (Of course, they drove their cars to the trailhead.) They’re able to convince themselves that the nails would only puncture a bike tire–not the foot of a coyote, bobcat, horse or dog.

Then there are the hunters who hate trail users (of all kinds) for supposedly impacting deer/elk populations. Lower ungulate populations means fewer hunters are allowed to drive their atv’s on trails to go kill those same deer and elk. Their “harvest,” of course, is done in the name of “herd management.”

I’d bet a turquoise chakra stone that this was done by one of these whackos, and their rationale was, “It’s for the benefit of wildlife!”
