Just the "M" and no dot tattoo if at FL today?

I didn’t race, but would you go all in and get the M-dot tat if you were at FL? Or, just the “M”?

Great question.

M-dot with little asterisk.

Just the MDot? Why not get the entire logo, event name, and mission statement too?

That tattoo cannot be real, no way someone would actually get that.

Please tell me that’s not real! OH GOD NO!

MAN!!!

I have seen some bad tattoos, BUT that is a fail on all levels. Design, accuracy, and technical execution are all TERRIBLE. The only thing worse would be if it was misspelled.

Nice. Looks like it was done in pen though.

It is tacky, therefore real.

Well they are saying you are an ironman at the finish line so I’m sure some people will.

Are they really??? Hell, that race is not even a triathlon, let alone an IM. In theory, they should not be saying that but of course, of course I know the drill: people paid their money, and finished the bk and rn, so they want to hear it:)

Does the WTC get to cut the prize purse by 1/3?

Pretty funny. I had the exact same thought doing the race today as my first IM. BUT, we had to wait out in the cold wind in T1 for 1-2 hours to go out on the bike, and that was MUCH MUCH worse than swimming. And the conditions were absolutely brutal today. I’d say anyone getting an M-DOT tattoo from IMFL 2014 absolutely deserves it.

Does this mean you did a short run (dist?), then had to wait for 1-2 hrs before starting the bike??? Can you give a brief summary of how the duathlon was structured, just for our benefit???

No a classic du, basically an iron brick  time trial start on the bike, two racers every 5 sec in bib # order. The first 10-20mi were a complete mess.

Ah, I see now, thks for the explain!!! I just finished scanning through the IMFL Race Day thread and no one explained exactly how the TT start worked, I guess because they are all there. Thks for taking the time to explain!!! Also, what were the actual temps like??? Sounds like it was pretty cold with the wind chill factor.
