Woke up Thursday morning to a foot at least and white out conditions. People here are telling me this clears up pretty quick. True?
It could happen. But the real question is, why aren’t you training anyway.
Weather shouldn’t be a factor. You may not be able to bike outside, but you can run, swim, snowshoe, skate ski, bike on a trainer and the list goes on and on. Welcome to Boulder - where you need to be Semper Flexibilis!
well one or two warmer days will clear up snow like that but roads will still be wet and probably covered in sand/gravel for longer. Cross country skiing is great cross training though ![]()
You went to a near mile high city in March. Thats called “winter”.
Meh. The buses aren’t running, the rec center (with my pool) is closed, my neighbors’ cars are stuck in the driveway, and I just spent over an hour trying to get my trainer home from REI.
You could do what some BAMFs were doing earlier - commuting to work on a fully rigid 29er with snow tires, or snowshoeing to the supermarket.
Training camp in Boulder is March??? You better stop drinking the “Boulder triathlon paradise” kool-aid now, you have gone too far…
Welcome to Colorado. I’m down in Colorado Springs and I don’t think this snow is suppose to clear up until Saturday (our high is 51 for Sat.).
Our weather is all over the map. I still have the remains of my sunburn from Sunday’s long run (around 70 and sunny) and now I’m stuck inside with a blizzard warning. It’s back on the trainer for me.
And training camp in Boulder in March? Seriously?
boulder triathlon paradise, is this one of the brews out here. I am sort of a snob when it comes to beers. Is this a good one? or, can you name soem of the good CO brews. When I go to pick up some beer, I am overwelmed with the choices.
I’m in the Denver area too. We’ve got at least 10 inches already. I live less than 2 miles from work & on my drive home (when they closed our office at noon) saw 2 people out running in this. No excuses! ![]()
Wow. Bummer. Not to spoil the party, but I just finished up my camp in Tucson where it was 85+ every day and everyone went home with a suntan/burn.
I live just south of Denver and this is perfect Cross bike weather…
Come talk to us in July Brian.

I am in the mountains west of you… suck it up because I can tell you that there is more on the way!!
OK, i will quit my bitchin. I got out in the snow (in Boulder) and got in 5 miles. It was good!
I moved to boulder in january, and the snow does clear up fast. That being said, the weather in general is so good that is not the end of the world to be on a treadmill/trainer etc from time to time. I was scheduled to swim this evening and the pool was closed though…so swim cords are really all I can do for that ![]()
Are you here this weekend? supposed to be really nice on saturday…
yes, I will be here Sat. I am hoping to get in a couple/few runs (walks) up the Cog Hill climb as well. This might be tough getting down if there is any snow/ice. Thanks for everyones input!

Mike,
Indeed. I have always thought this was one of the really great things about this sport - there is always something that you can do. If you can’t ride, you can run. If you can’t run you can swim . . and so on. However, you know what the problem is in this day and age of spread-sheet, locked-down, proprietary training programs - if it’s dayX I have to ride etc . . .

I agree Steve. I got up early yesterday to run 10 miles, got it in - of course I finished in a white out - sideways snow stinging my face - but do you think I’ll have to do a tougher run all year - probably not. So, maybe my interval run didn’t get done and I certainly could have done that on the treadmill in a nice warm gym, but that would be too easy. Mixing it up is what makes this sport great! Looks like some snowshoeing is on top this weekend instead of a long ride too. Looking forward to it!
