This is an e-mail a friend of mine sent me who really wants a new bike (he needs one, by the way). Start at the bottom.
I figured it was worth a shot.

I don’t really understand why you don’t get that we CANNOT afford to spend $2800 on anything. We’ve never spent half that much on anything and this is a used bike?!! How can you not see that this is ridiculous. What’s more important me going to school or you getting a bike?

That bad ass bike I mentioned earlier that I thought was sold is still available. He’s asking $2800, but should be able to go down a bit. He lives in Colorado and is driving to Chicago this weekend, and would deliver the bike. Shipping would normally add another $150, and if I bought from a store it would easily be that much in tax.
Really, if there is any way we can do this it would be incredible. This is a
super rare bike for a great price.
Just squirrel away the money over time, and hide it away. Preferably in a bank in the Caymans. Then, when you get the bike, make sure its the same colour as your old one. If she ever notices, the bike will be old by then and you can pass it off as second hand. I mean, its not like your wife would tell you EVERY time she bought a new pair of shoes or a dress is it ?

Your friend needs to learn how to discuss (haggle) things with his wife. It almost sounds like a teenager asking his dad for a new bike. "But, dad it’s like so super awesome, and ata totally rad price. I mean, dad, this bike only comes around once in a lifetime. "
He didn’t offer anything in trade? No battering.
About this new bike, does he “really, really, really, need” a new bike or could he make a compromise and go with a cheaper one? (<-- serious question)
**What’s more important me going to school or you getting a bike? **
Uggggh. We’ve all had to answer questions like that before.
Way bad form on your part to post private e-mails on an internet forum. If you were my friend, I would have to kick your ass for this. While it is totally acceptable, and almost required, to share marraige details, especially sex details, with the training buddies, posting it on the web is over the line.
that’s right, poor woman – her husband is going around badmouthing her behind her back like she’ s his 8th grade teacher who just assigned him to detention. i think the thread should be called “just another reason why men suck.”
I would be willing to bet if I were to forward this email to everyone I know and then they forward it and so on and so on, it would eventually reach them.
