Just a "HED" question

Hi,

planning on buying a set of HED wheels I asked some question to HED service. They directed me to HED Europe (located in Spain). The guys in Spain said they build the wheels in Spain. So I thought HED wheels are built in USA … are these not the same wheels we European riders can buy over here in Europe? Is a HED H3 bought in USA not the same wheel as a HED H3 bought here in Germany?

regards,

Frank

they are made in Spain - all HED 3’s are
.

My impression was just the Hed 3’s are made in a Spanish production facility. Most other Hed wheels are made in the U.S. I believe.

The real answer here will depend largely on the product and which part of that product your question is about. I’ve taken the tour at HED (in MN) and learned a variety of parts of different products were made in different locations.

For example, HED3s are not just made in Spain. If I remember correctly, the birth of an H3 starts in the USA and is completed in Spain.

Different products (i.e., discs, aerobars, Apls, etc) have different production cycles so it’s tough to always know.

Hope this helps.

Frank,

On the Hed 3: the hubs are made here in Minnesota and shipped to Spain. The carbon comes from the US and is shipped to Spain, the core material comes from Germany. All these components are assembled into the complete wheel at the plant in Spain. All H3s come from the same plant, so the ones you get there in Germany are the same ones we have here at HQ in Minnesota. -Andy
