Junior Worlds - is this Davis & Connie Phinney's son?

He got some pretty good genes, I guess. If this kid is the real deal (no reason to doubt that based on these results) then the future of American cycling looks pretty good.

Yes, Taylor is Davis and Connie’s Son. Davis has verbalized his serious concerns over his son pursuing a cycling career due to the doping issues in the sport, but it appears that Taylor is the real deal. You can’t have much better gene donors! Hopfully all the media coverage and his dad’s public misgivings will keep him clean!

Yes, he’s their son. Very good genes and certainly a glimpse into the future of American cycling.

Yes he is. I am glad he won.

Don’t miss Ben King a bit lower down on that list–also a huge, huge talent.

did sergio jr. race this? if so, how did he do?

Sergio Jr. is the real deal too and obviously some good genes in that family, as well as lots of good karma from dad.

Some of his cycling mates are racing or raced this year the UCI Juniors worlds, but at fourteen he is to young to be there. He still has to wait two or three years to compete at the Junior level.

If things keep going as they are now there is a very good chance that you will see him in that list representing Mexico but frankly the chance of seeing him on the top of that list is slim. He will fight for that top place with all his might and I will try to do my best to help him fulfill his dream but he still has a long, long way to go.

Triathlon and cycling has given him many good things, the best of these are in his mind, not on the wall or sitting on top of a shelf. He has also become a better student as a side effect of his triathlon and cycling ambitions.

There are many risks when you aim to be the best triathlete or cyclist in the world. I am just glad that at this point his interest in the sport has given him, for good, very important life lessons.

Thanks for your nice comments,

Sergio
