Jonas takes 2nd in new double olympic distance

I just saw that Jonal Colting just took second in the new long distance race. Itis double olympic, and he had the fastest run of the day at 1:06+…That’s back to back 33+ 10ks at the end of the day…Looks like Jonas is finally on track for this season, that’s some serious speed…He came up .50 short of the win, and was 2 minutes back in the swim…But everyone knows here that the swim doesn’t mean anything…(-;; Good job Jonas, and good luck to you and Bjorn in the Sweedish tt championships this week…

Interesting distance. Similiar to a 1/2 IM. It must be 3 km - 80 km - 20 kms?

The old ITU old course was 4 km - 120 kms - 30 kms. I’m still surprised they dropped it.

Apparently since the 101 has come about, the ITU is going back to their old longer distance for next year…

“That’s back to back 33+ 10ks at the end of the day…Looks like Jonas is finally on track for this season, that’s some serious speed…”

Wow. That’s impressive.

"He came up .50 short of the win, and was 2 minutes back in the swim…But everyone knows here that the swim doesn’t mean anything…(-;; "

At the pointy end, everything is important…

So I guess they’ll have to get another group of doctors to say that racing more than double olympic isn’t bad for you after all.

Make it 03 distance 4.5/120/30

A very good day for Jonas- he was very happy, and it rounded up a solid weekend for FIT Multisports Athletes with Bryan Rhodes in 5th at IM CDA, Chris Mcdonald 9th at Quelle and Marilyn MacDonald in 5th at IM France.

This is what Jonas had reported to me in his email:
“…I ran a 1.06.42 on the 20 k run to finish 2nd at the European Champs today in Belgium!! I was beat by homecrowd favourite Fredrik van Lierde who lead wire to wire but I took 4 minutes back on the run. I ran two laps with speedster Stephen Bayliss from Britain before I dropped him and cruised in as 2nd…” http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/8320/dsc1593lt1.jpg

Awesome news for Jonas!

Is ITU really going back to the old long distance? It seems out of character that they woulddo something…ummmm…popular.

i saw the running part on the belgium tv. jonas was running strong. He would have catched him if the running part was a little bit longer.

I feel for the guy and the rest of those who really can not get the hanfgof swimming. I would be happy to help him out in the water. I feel sorry for a guy that has to tear his legs up on the run for the catch up of a poor swim. If you know Jonas’ contact info, please forward on the invitation

Truley,

Paul

Normaly he is a bit faster. I think he sad that this was his slowest ever swim in this kind of race.

Is that duathlete humor?

Wow, what a studly performance from Jonas! Paul, are you going to get Jonas on a SeaDoo for the swim? If not, I too am wonderinng how the duathlon stud will impart swimming wisdom

He´s a former swimmer and this swim was not at his normal level. We have the swedish sprint champs this weekend, it´s going to interesting to see what he can do there with that running! Bjorn is also competing, bet he´s eager to break away on the bike

Dev,
Of course I am kidding. However, I do not think it takes a great runner to coach a runner. Cycling the same. Tennis the same…ie Nick Bolleterri.

While I do not have the skills to teach someone how to become a great swimmer, I am sure there are swimmers at my level that can.

I am off to Monty’s pool!

PT

Hey Paul, are you going swimming at Monty’s pool or are you hanging out on the deck with some beers? Just trying to make sure that your priorities aren’t getting too messed up

Bare in mind that both Colting and Bjorn are riding the Swedish TT championship today. then the Tri-sprint champ this weekend. That’s a though program.

Jocke; How are things going for you, are you back on track after your injury? Still aiming for Kalmar?

Here´s a brief report from Uppsala and the Swedish Cycling Champs…

Today is the TT and it´s on a 43 k course, don´t know why don´t run it over 50 k like they always do but hey I guess it makes for a little less suffering. And suffering it will be! I´m still a little tired from European Champs last weekend (as in legs aching somewhat…) but I´m just going to haul ass best I can. Not that I´ll have nothing and absolutely nothing to do with anything in the results but rather just getting in a good powerhour of riding in preparation for ITU Worlds a few weeks up the road. I´ve just done a short run to wake and shake and I´ll be putting on a TT-suit pretty soon doing my best TdF-imitation:)

Björn is going to do well and is displaying his normal quiet power before a big race. He´s had a few good weeks now after a cold so maybe he´ll put some pressure on Bäckstedt, Marcus Ljungqvist, Tomas Lövkvist and Gustav Larsson, all of which are kick-ass pro´s and the four athletes that beat Björn last year on the TT. The big story today is otherwise that Gustav Larssons girlfriend who was yesterdays favourite in the womens TT, got hit by a car warming up and was seriously injured with a grave concussion and had to undergo surgery to release pressure from the brain. Rumour has it she was riding without a helmet so hence the injury… Larsson will still be riding today though and will be hard to beat (4th in TT Worlds a few years back…)

Swedish IM-recordholder Eva Nyström (9.21) claimed 2nd yesterday in the womens 30 k, just 16 seconds from the gold.

good luck to both of you. (and congrats with yr 2nd place last weekend, it was fun watching it on tv)

Jocke; How are things going for you, are you back on track after your injury? Still aiming for Kalmar?

Unfortunately i´m not back to 100% yet, the knee is better but not well. My main goal right now is to get back to training and to do IMFL later this year. Thanks for asking.
