Jon Huntsman quits GOP primary race via Twitter

“To be clear. I believe in evolution and trust scientists on global warming. Call me crazy”

Maybe its the stress of the last few weeks… he’s lost a boatload in the market.

If he wanted the GOP nomination, then he was nuts to think like that.

You mean he was nuts to say what he actually believes, knowing that it runs counter to conservative dogma.

I’m not sure who he was trying to win favor with with that tweet. All other things being equal, he could lose the nomination in a two man race on those positions alone.

Rookie mistake.

Can you imagine the sound bite heaven generated for the general election if the other candidates assail him on those positions?

I guess a bunch of people are figuring out the trade-offs: insult the YEC/creationists or the intellectual elitists? Hmm…

These positions had nothing to do with why he was not competitive. He is not Presidential material.

Of course not. But don’t think for a second that such a statement from a viable candidate wouldn’t torpedo their campaign.

Why not?

Ironic, because willful ignorance of basic scientific concepts should also invalidate one from being considered presidential material.

Romney has said as much, and he’s still the frontrunner.

“In my opinion, the science class is where to teach evolution, or if there are other scientific thoughts that need to be discussed,” he said. “If we’re going to talk about more philosophical matters, like why it was created, and was there an intelligent designer behind it, that’s for the religion class or philosophy class or social studies
class.”

RINO.

Maybe it’s MINOs.

Why not?

Guys that are Presidential can raise money and get votes - Huntsman can’t do either. So instead of acknowledging this he tweets some irreverent…
