Just picked one up, and dried it out on my hed jet disc. Worked great! Why do people bother messing with crack pipes anymore?
agreed had one with a tri spoke and a disk, going on 6 years now and have only had order a new head rebuild kit in that time, so under $10 in 6 years!!!
Agreed!
do you still need the value extender to inflate the disc bc i have the hed jet90 and think it would work on mine
.
what are we talking about here? post a pic? how does this thing replace the use of crack pipes?
Google it. Its just a normal floor pump, but the head of the pump isnt all big and bulky like all the other pumps. It fits in the little groove in the discs just fine. You just lock it on and pump it up like you would any other tire.
Also I have a presta valve extender on my jet 9. Way better IMHO than the crappy ones that hed provides. I use the smart head on all my wheels now, no more fiddling with crackpipes or calling my friends over to help me pump up the disc.
Fits nicely in the hole in a wheel cover, also.
I agree, but have had reliability issues. I think I am up to my 4th smarthead in about 1.5 years. The ones I’ve had started leaking out air faster than you can pump it back in.
Who makes the “presta valve extender” that you are using?
What the hell do you do to them? I’ve had the same 2 for about 4 or 5 years now with no issues…
Still looks too big to fit in a zipp disc…thoughts?
I think maybe it’s just a quality control issue. For example, the “replacement” one that I was sent from Topeak leaked immediately, right out of the box. But finally I got what I believe is a good one, and so far (knock on wood) it shows no signs of any problems, works great. The place I bought it from (Performance Bike) seemed to indicate they’d had a lot of returns on that pump as well.
