********I have just been prepping two of my bikes for sale and changing out 4 tyres. I had just mounted one particularly hard to mount Continental when I noticed the label was at the 3 o’clock to the rim decal at the 6 o’clock so I struggled to get it off and re-mount it at opposite side to the rim decal. So, back to the original question attention to detail or anal? I am also going to the bike shop to get new bolts for the canti brake hangers on my Cross bike too.
How about anal AND properly done?
I’ll buy that one, if it’s the best you can offer!
Hey, its a proper Demerly-esque job…no shame there.

There is that!
What do you mean? There’s only ONE way to mount clinchers… silly question…
Why are some called uni-directional then, smartass(coach)? Ha Ha Ha Ha.

Julian,
How about not anal and not properly done? Just obsessing!
Properly done and anal would have the tire label at same position as valve stem evenly with equal amounts of tire label on either side of valve stem.
Sorry, but you need more ANALysis! Contact a professional therapist ASAP.
Good luck.
umm…I thought this was a proctologist visit gone wrong thread. Glad to hear it’s just tires. If I’m ever in the market for a used bike, I’d love to have one of yours if you’re even remotely as OCD about the rest of the bike.

.
See now Ben, I too would have mounted the tire label with the valve central. BUT that would have meant that the nice Orange Continental label would have been at 11 o’clock position when the Rim decal would be at 6 o’clock this just looks unbalanced. Not too unlike the way this conversation is going!!
I would think that someone who knows about such things (not incuding me), would note the attention to detail, assume that the bike has been well-cared for, and pay your price.
But I still put out milk and cookies for Santa.
Sorry I took so long to reply Monk but I was helping the Easter bunny count out his eggs ![]()
