Anybody else catch it? Weird and disturbing behavior from a talented former actor who mumbled a bunch of one word answers and seemed pretty out of it. Letterman played along for a bit but did make some rather stinging comments “what did you learn from your time with the uni-bomber?” At one point Phoenix swore at Paul Schaefer and stuck his gum under Letterman’s desk. With the scraggly beard and sunglasses he looked like a homeless person, it made me uncomfortable watching it. I was able to find one or two versions on youtube but CBS has already had several deleted.

Saw it earlier today on YouTube, agree that Letterman seemed to play along at first but then got annoyed as it went on. I cracked up at the end when he said “Well, I’m sorry that you couldn’t be here tonight with us” and then “Next time I’ll come to your house to chew gum”.
If the whole thing is an act, it’s pretty strange. If he’s trying to do some type of Andy Kaufman/Borat thing it isn’t funny.
I thought the best part was at the end when he said he had to apologize to Farrah Fawcett.
Rumor has it that he is spoofing the ridiculousness of celebrities. He has a friend or family member filming all these exploits and is making a movie out of it.

I kinda wondered at something like that. Him and Don Cheadle are 2 of my favorite actors. I kept figuring “no way he’s serious”, but you never know.
