Javelin Rep. Visit

I BSed with the Javelin (http://www.javbike.com/beta2/home.php) rep. for an hour or so the other day. He had some interesting stuff. Here’s the highlights.

The Grigio (http://www.javbike.com/beta2/road/grigio.php) is a beautiful bike. Lugged carbon seems to be appearing on more and more carbon bikes.

New TT/Tri bikes for 05’… the Barolo (http://www.javbike.com/beta2/multisport/barolo.php) and Asti (http://www.javbike.com/beta2/multisport/asti.php). Saw the Asti… reminded me a little of an Airborne from a few years back.

These wheels are just crazy (http://www.zerocomponents.com/lightweight.html). Weight is just over 1000 grams which isn’t as light as you can go… but these suckers are as strong and stiff as they come!! I could not get these wheels to flex at all. I’ve heard Paul and Phil saying something to the effect that part of Jan’s descending problems are his light weight carbon wheels. Can’t be THESE wheels gentlemen… they are rock solid!!

Their disc wheel (http://www.zerocomponents.com/discwheels.html) seemed ok… foam filled with carbon covering. Looked sharp.

Other wheels (http://www.zerocomponents.com/wheels.html) were also interesting, although there are ‘similar’ (made by the same source??) products out there.

Carbon cage (http://www.zerocomponents.com/waterbottles.html) was really a minimal design… not sure how well it would hold an over-sized bottle.

Their skewers (http://www.zerocomponents.com/skewers.html) were pretty nice. Light… fairly cheap for Ti… the most original part is the lever for the quick release screws off, leaving just the axel and ends. ‘Aero’ and a little more theft proof!!

The wheel bag (http://www.zerocomponents.com/wheelbags.html) was one item I was really impressed with. When I picked up the double one I thought there still might be a wheel (or two) in there… it has THAT MUCH padding!! Extra straps on the inside, pockets, etc… it’s got everything you can think of. I guess you need something this nice when you are carrying around $3000-$5000+ sets of wheels!!
