janfrodeno Jan Frodeno
On that note, I´m really sorry but I can´t help feel that @dghugo was the first legitimate athlete across the line today! Well done buddy!

I’m not generally a big fan of Jan Frodeno but I like the fact he is helping triathlon stay away from the veil of silence “Don’t spit in the soup” mentality that exists in cycling. If everyone in the sport knows someone is jacked up on everything they can get their hands on then social media is a great way to let the word out quietly and hopefully get them out of the sport.

Help stay away from the veil of silence by doing what? Suggesting on twitter that someone particular is cheating? It’s careless and reckless to make remarks like that publicly, given that the cost of being wrong, to the accused, is so great. Frodeno’s tweet is hardly to be praised.
With the power Weiss put out a Kona he needs to be investigated, it could simply be an amazing performance on his part, if so props to him. But with his track record (i think he was under investigation before and currently) he needs to be investigated.
it’s just the old “common sense” thing. Here is a link http://www.nada.at/...10-Michael-Weiss.pdf . Short: There is no doubt Weiss has been at Humanplasma, but you can’t proof what he did there. Unless he comes up with a very good reason why he was there, there is only one explanation. Unfortunately the dopers (here: Bernhard Kohl) dont have the balls to stand up and clear things …
Just to be clear: Kohl identified two other athletes and Michael Weiss as the athletes who had an appointment at Humanplasma in 2005 - then did not further cooperate without giving reasons.
crowie puts out the 2nd fastest bike split at kona and weiss needs to be investigated?
whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?
If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and has feathers, it’s probably a duck.
Crowie on the other hand - I’ve said it countless time before - with his results, he hasn’t needed to push the bike. He has timed the vast majority of his races perfectly.
This year, changes to bike in both frame, helmet and intent resulted in a normal result - nothing abnormal about it at all.
I was getting ready to post this same thing. I thought that was very interesting, and I think it’s nice to see him calling out another athlete. Yes, it is risky if you don’t know all the facts, but he sounds pretty sure.
its not reckless when he knows the guy is a cheat.
But he doesn’t *know *it… He may believe it, and may even be certain about it.
But belief is not knowledge.
Not saying I don’t agree one way or another, but let’s be clear - Frodeno does not know that Weiss is doping (even though the evidence is pretty strong in that regard).
and in the end nothing at all can be truly known for sure beyond, perhaps, our own existence, so we have to make do with approximations. We say we know things only when we are pretty damn sure.
and when someone visits humanplasma
well…

I have mixed feelings about a lot of this, and I expect that Dan will potentially pull this thread down.
Let me be clear - I am all for free speech, but until it’s proven without a doubt and through the proper process, that someone has done something( Has that been done in this case?), then it’s just open speculation what happened.
It’s frustrating that these investigations and court cases involving PEDs seem to drag on forever, but what else are we to do? Some will do what’s going on here, draw their own conclusions, and then state publicly what they think - they are entitled to do that. Unfortunately the internet, is a wide and large soapbox, so this stuff can get broadcast far and wide. I agree that there seems to be a great deal of compelling evidence, in this situation, but what if the accused, is innocent in the end? Then what? Will all these folks publicly apologize?
Dan’s rule is that one can discuss allegations that are out there (ie Frodeno’s allegation and the investigations of mr. Weiss), but not make allegations of one’s own. I think this thread is on the right side of those rules.
