I bought my wife a pair, but am having a little bit of trouble getting them set up. The arm pads seem to sit too high for the length of the aero bar. In order to grasp the aerobars with her hands she has to assume a somewhat unnatural hand position, or only grasp the bar with half of her hand. Any suggestions on how to get a more natural position? I don’t think she has abnormally long forearms.
I moved the arm pads as far back on the bars as I could, however this didn’t really change anything that much.
I noticed this too. The oval slam bars are considerably better. I have a set of Deda one pice molded carbon fiber “slam” bars on my Look KX Light, the Synapsi. These are used without any pads at all and they work fine for a about a thirty second jam, but not too much more.
To me, it seems like shorty aero bars seem to be at their best when used for short intervals a few minutes at a time as opposed to getting into the aero position and staying there for 20-40 minutes or more.
That said, I’m not sure what the solution to your specific dilemma is… Sorry.
Loosen the bolt that holds the bars. It’s just one bolt on top of the braket that bolts them to the handle bars. You can now rotate and fore/aft the bar adjustment and hopefully find a comfortable position. If this doesn’t work you could remove the spacer under the arm pad and try that. In fact, be certain these came with them, as my set was missing them initially. Somebody at the factory forgot to put them on. Pull back the foam pads and it’s two bolts.
My wife and I both used them on our road bikes and they worked fine.
Hmmmm, I don’t have that kind of a problem, actually I grasp the bar with my full hand. Anyway my setup is completely different from what you can see in profile-design website, the arm pads are in the same height of the handlebar and all the jammer GT bar in below the handlebar putting me on a very aggressive position. All this with a 74º seat angle on a cervelo p2k with drop bars (sorry to those guys that don’t like a p2k with a slack angle and drop bars, you can always come to Portugal and shot me ).
You can always rotate the bar to move the bar ends up, then put small spacers on one of the 2 bolts, just below the armrest so that you con level that thing again, I have done that with a different setup than I have now an works.
