Jackson Hole - Where can I ride?

Going to Jackson Hole for a week. Any recommendations on good routes/places to ride on the road?

I don’t know of any personally, but I’d love to hear about your excursions. I have looked in quite a few Jackson tourism guides and they promote quite a bit of riding, but I think I asked about this a couple of years ago when Slowman was trying to find locations for U.S. Nationals. Nobody responded. I think the problem is that it is a bit difficult getting there (although a beautiful drive from Salt Lake City, Idaho Falls, etc.), and it is at altitude.

We have thought about buying some property up there…so this is particularly interesting to me. Keep us posted.

Since there aren’t a ton of roads…
Head north to Grand Teton Park (you can loop in to Jenny Lake, back out to Jackson Lake, and back down 89) this is actually really flat.
Head South on 89 for as far as you want out and back (or hitch a ride back with a rafting tour).
Head towards Teton village for some elevation.
If you decide to ride Teton Pass, make sure you tell us all about it.

the roads through the park are nice. I used to live in moose during the summer and would ride from Moose up to Jackson lake or Jenny lake. every one is going fairly slowly but lots of RV’s. Less traffic if you go early. Teton pass is a great climb and descent. It climbs 3000’ in about 10miles with a few hairpins and little or no guard rails.
if you are going any time soon then there be prepared for cold and hot weather. I’ve been snowed on in late June in the valley and had 6 inches in August up at 9000’ in the high country. One year I had to go buy a bunch of winter cycling stuff because it was so cold and I only brought summer stuff.

I’ll be there next week (on the other side of the pass) . I’ve done the pass, and it’s a grunt - but worth it. Ride right over to Victor, grab a shake at the Victor Emporieum, then back up for a truly epic climbing day. The pass is a grunt on the jackson side, less so on the Victor side. Another option is to drive over to Victor then ride west (southwest) up into the bighole mountains (hwy 31), good climbs, and traffic isn’t too bad.

I was just there for a week and it is so beautiful. The park is a great place to ride and there are bike lanes. Go early as one of the other posters said.

There is a road that takes you from the Park to Teton Village and that is windy and hilly with light traffic and some pretty views. I think it is right after the gate to Grand Teton National Park.

There is also a bike path that goes from Teton Village to Wilson and some other places - and the local bike store in Teton Village has maps for more roads from there.

We were camping in Colter Bay and the road from there to Yellowstone was good, too.

Have fun and bring us back some pix!!
