Thanks for sharing. That was so cute. My kids, who are also five, watched it and are so jealous. I haven’t seen any short tris like that around here. Your weekend adventure sounds like a blast!

That is so cool. Your kids are a bit younger than mine. But a few years back (at the first Steelhead) my kids raced in the kids tri there. It was a very similar experience. One really super great thing was that Karen Smyers was there at the finish line to put medals on all of the kids. They probably didn’t appreciate it except that there was a really nice lady putting a medal on them, but us tri-geek parents thought it was awesome.

It was a blast! We drove over from Madison race morning. Was surprised that the kids were still excited when they awoke at 5:30am.
All three of my girls ages 10,7, and 4 participated. They proudly wore their finisher medals all day, and the 7-year old is still wearing her Pewaukee Kids Tri T-shirt two days later!
The shirts were nice. Either there weren’t any last year or I just missed them. Not sure if you were there last year, but it seemed a lot better this year. Transition was nice and tucked away in that parking lot this year (last year was wedged onto a sidewalk) and they straightened the swim to a straight-line point-to-point for 6 and under this year, and 7+ went out and back around a buoy. The buoy was way too difficult last year for the 4-5’ers and a lot of kids were getting jostled or confused. Congrats to the kids. Need to coordinate meeting up next year.
