Anyone else doing the indoor tri this sunday? My friend and I signed up for early 9-10am. Should be a fun (PAINFUL) hour!
Indoor tris are just plain wrong. Anyone with me on this?
Depends on how they measure the bike. Usually they just come down to who can spin at the highest RPM no matter what the resistance on the wheel.
This jackrabbit tri is only an hour! what, you swim for 15 minutes, ride for 30, and run for 15? And anyone who participates can brag at the office they did a triathlon over the weekend?
“…they just come down to who can spin at the highest RPM…”
oh so wrong.
out here in the cold where we try to do them right, several events use stationary bikes which adjust for mileage based on cadence and resistance and do add an element of realism. they may be off a bit, but they are all calibrated reasonably close to each other so who cares?
outside of that…you go as hard as you want to. when’s the last time you played with hard indoor 20:00’s for swim/bike/run and minimal transitions?
i rather enjoy them.

I thought about doing it.
Unfortunately work has been so busy for me this past month,I havent been able to train much.
I’m going to be in the city this Sunday,so I might try and stop by anyway.
it’s not for office glory. I bling my three IM finisher medals to the office when I want that kind of praise. Maybe I’ll wear them tomorrow…nah, i wore them yesterday.

priceless
.
Oops.
I thought they were going to be at Aspahlt Green this Sunday.
I guess i wont be checking it out then.![]()
Real men earn 7 medals so they can wear a different one each day of the week.
I am a girl, smartypants.
When I want to wear 7 medals I just add my marathon medals to the bling. that’s only for days when I really want to brag or do some strength training.

But girls can’t be named Nic. Sorry
It’s a Nick-name.
mwa-ha-ha!
A lot of indoor tris don’t calibrate the bikes. I believe the Jackrabbit tris do not account for resistance, just revolutions. Treadmills can be wildly different too, but I agree, indoor tris are generally pretty fun to do and a good way to keep the off-season interesting.
