I went in with low expectations and came away quite satisfied. It’s funny that Taylor usually dominates the air time in interviews, but with Joe she is lucky to get 25% of it. It is quirky how he asks a question, then answeres it for her in several different ways, and then says is that what you think?? But it works somehow and he got a Howard Stern moment out of her that was interesting. Th whole boyfriend question went on a bit of a wild ride, her disdain for the dude was quite evident, a side of her not yet seen…And I know with the clues she gave, you ST sleuths can figure out who he is… (-;
I will now follow his pods, I like that he has absolutely no dead air time, and he seems to be able to just flow from one thought to another, even if a bit disjointed…
Yes, those quirks almost had me tuning out, but I felt that would probably be unfair to not give the discussion time to settle, which it did and I too enjoyed the discussion.
I had a similar reaction. There were times when I thought Joe should really work on asking his questions more concisely, but overall I thought he did a really good job of running the conversation. It really felt natural and flowed nicely, and he’s naturally entertaining. I would not have expected the two of them to work as well together as they did, credit to them both.
I thought the part when Taylor indicated that two people sent her an unsolicited diagnosis indicating she was on the spectrum was interesting. It seemed like it upset her, justifiably. And the boyfriend part was interesting too. I’ll admit I went through the Lake Placid results and looked at swim times to see who it might be.
Would be interesting to have a session on Age Group racing in thr T100 if you can snatch some impressions in London or Frejus, I don’t really have a feeling for it yet @JackKelly-TTH
i was just thinking about that in theory that was one of the best ideas jack had in my mind . the only thing for some reason it did not work out as well as it should have , i think some moderating was missing to make it really good , i think i remember bjorn geesman was quite good but the runs a podcast but for the none podcaster a “guide” helps
joe is obviously experienced with podcasts and very good , but i think with most stuff jack tried it would have benefited if he was there a bit in the background and gently guide the athletes and coaches.
Really glad Skipper was able to find time to complain about the moto’s for the second week in a row. But otherwise it’s been a great podcast to listen to.
I think the episode with Funk was much weaker than the one with Taylor. But not sure if it’s because of the guest, the fact that once it’s 2 guys Joe becomes immediately “laddy” or just there wasn’t much chat.
I liked both episodes. I thought the conversation with Taylor was interesting because she opened up more than I’ve heard in previous interviews. I liked the one with Funk because I didn’t really know much about him and he seems like a chill guy with a good sense of humor.
I would prefer if there were a few less “likes”; that’s a verbal tick that is worth working on.
