Jack Daniels out of a job, send contributions?

fyi: This from Amby Burfoot’s Runners World blog, http://footloose.runnersworld.com/

Apparently the High altitude training center is now (as they say in France) kaput and Jack Daniels is no longer employed. There’s a site for donations to keep HATC open (and Daniels employed). Burfoot’s blog entry seems a bit like a plea to help out Daniels but as someone in the comments noted it’s primarily for HATC. It seems to me JD could get a job almost anywhere if he wanted. Hard times all 'round, hope he lands on his feet somewhere. As Burfoot notes, “In running, Daniels
is as close as we’ve got to a national treasure.”

I’d agree, but while I’m a patriotic citizen of a great nation, it’s still a nation that doesn’t treasure runners … or their coaches.

My first thought when I saw the headline: What? Prohibition is back? Jack and Coke the movie libation of choice.

sorry to be pedantic… but that beverage doesn’t have the letter “s” in the gentleman’s name… only an 's to show possession. :slight_smile:

I hear you loud and clear. I was thinking the OP jumped off the bridge with the bad spellers.

I am sure Mr Daniels will land a position, he’s certainly a valuable asset for someone.

I just laid off a group sales person, three cooks, two serves, a wine steward and two dishwashers. Please send contributions to these hard working people who are not going to get any job offers soon.
