I've always said just about anyone can roll off the couch and run a sprint tri .

Well, I’m about to test that theory. I’m seriously undertrained and will be running a sprint tri tomorrow – 525 pool swim, 12 mile bike, 5K. It’s going to hurt and not in a good way. The only positive thing I can say about my current physical condition is that I am injury free (pretty hard to get injured on the training schedule I’ve been keeping lately).

Hopefully you’ll still be injury free after tomorrow…kj

Well that pretty much sums up my very first triathlon. It has been three years and thirteen triathlons later and I’m still going!

For your first one, remember to smile and have fun.

Good Luck

It’s not my first (I’ve been at this for about three years), which makes my lack-of-training guilt all that much more severe. But you’re right, fun is what it’s going to be all about.

I think that’s cool. It’s fun to go out and see how things go with minimal training. My problem is, there isn’t a big difference! I’ve done 10Ks on 20 scattered miles a week and run only about 2 min. slower than when I am doing twice as much mileage + intervals, etc. … I am trying to get my friends I train with to do a local 5K tomorrow and I don’t think any will because either they are 1.) not trained enough to race (uhh … 25 miles a week is plenty) or 2.) “I need to do a long run” … so do I and maybe I will … after the race. have fun! -TB

You’re pretty close to right about the time. I ran it in 1:26; properly trained, I should have posted a 1:20 or better. The run was the worst; lots of hills that were very unforgiving to the untrained. But, I did have a great time and I feel re-energized to train. I also wore my Peaceful Tribe gear; if any of the pics from the race turn out good, I’ll post.
