I’m looking for some short ITU/“Slam”-type aero clip-on bars to put on a slightly steep but still road geometry bike. From what I’ve seen there are a few out there.
I know Vision Tech makes clip-on mini aero bars:
HED makes the Aero Cliplite:
and Syntace makes the XXS:
I was wondering who else makes short ITU/“Slam”-type aero bars, and what your experience or feedback with them was.
I have a pair of cinilli spanci’s… i got them because they were lighter than the profile GT’s… I then modified them by adding a proper arm rest, (took an old profile design armrest… and attached it via some bent aluminum… still probably lighter than the profile design stuff… and the total cost was $0.00)
this setup works extremly well for the draft legal racing i do… and is super comfortable. The spanci’s are super adjustible.
however… i’m probably going to buy a pair of the visiontech ones cause they look so sexy…(and i want to put them on my new soloist)
another possiblility which i just discovered is http://www.profile-design.com/product_pages/clip_cgt.html… profile designs answer to the problem…
but i still say get the vision techs…
Profile-Design will be producing this new beauty “S” (Z) bend aerobar that can be used as a “shorty” aerobar with the help of a hacksaw. Other bars to note of are P-D’s Carbon Stryke, Split Second, and Air Stryke all of which can be converted into shorty aerobars with a hacksaw. The latter have fairly high aerobar pads relative to the aerobars themselves which can pose a problem for some riders. P-D also produces the CGT and Jammer GT purpose-built “slam bars” Oval Concepts makes a bar very similar to the last 2 in the form of the A700 Slam aerobar. Anyhoo, here is a pick of the new S bend P-D aerobar:
