ITU Race in Austria on TV today....cute

Troll.

i’ll ask you the same question i ask of every person who posts something like this on ST:

ever done a draft-legal race?

-mike

Not tris but a number of crits and a bunch of metric and full centuries.

cool. I’d really suggest you try to race a draft-legal tri sometime. might be an eye-opening experience.

Although I’m not a fan of drafting, I believe Brownlee is usually the one (and his brother) pulling the rest before they take off and run away from the ones they pulled along. Letting the others draft off the two of them keeps it closer.

This.

I watched this television show for over an hour the other day and it was a bunch of really tall guys running around a defined hard court area in baggy shorts tossing an orange ball amongst themselves while others slapped at the ball and at the other guys who had possession of the ball overseen by several guys dressed in a black and white uniform all done with two hoop shaped buckets at either end of the defined area of play into which the ball would occasionally be put. There were a lot of lines on the area of play and the shoes squeaked quite a bit but other than that it seemed like one team “won” and the other “lost.” Nothing really changed from the beginning of the game to the end.

I understand basketball about as well as you understand olympic distance draft legal racing.

youre cute… as in cute how you’re clueless about what a DL race is like. You must think Tour de France sprint stages are cute too huh?

haha! Crits AND centuries! Because those are practically the same thing, right?

I’m calling bs. This guy has never ridden a crit, or at the very least, he has never finished with the pack in a crit.

My comments were out of line. They are very good athletes enjoying the sport in a different format than what I prefer to do, but DL is no less valid.

Interesting post. Which Austrian (i.e. Kitzbuhel) did they re-broadcast?

2013? This featured a near vertical climb for 7K which Alistair Brownlee led from start to finish, taking a minute out of the second guy and 2.30 out of Gomez.

Or was it 2012? This saw both Brownlees hammering a three-man breakaway from the start of the bike, lasting for 20K. They were eventually caught but AB won by 50 seconds anyway…

Or was it 2011? Alistair Brownlee came out of the swim first, led the bike, managed to instigate a 3 man breakway which stuck, and also put in the fastest run of the day.

It probably wasn’t 2010 because AB was recovering from heatstroke and jogged in about 40th. But did you notice Stuart Hayes who won it after establishing a 2 minute breakway?

So that leaves 2009 but I doubt anyone would be replaying that. Or the 2014 European Championship which may have been a boring race with AB winning, but coverage was confined to a few cameras around transition.

Bottom line: Kitzbuhel not the best choice for a trolling expedition about draft legal racing.

Wish I’d seen the OP before it was deleted was looking forward to responding. Kitz has been one of the more interesting races lately, especially in 2013.

The OP was something to the effect he watched an Austrian race on TV last night and thought “how cute”, all that drafting, could A Brownlee win without all that wheel sucking etc… Trolling of course but I was rather proud of my put down, so sorry he deleted the thing it inspired.

Well, you have permission to remain proud of it! Maybe you’ve won him over.
