The big grand gestures are always easy but what are some of the small things you do for the one true love of your life that shows them how much they mean to you? One of my favorites is tossing a couple towels in the dryer while she is in the shower so she has nice warm cozy towels waitig for her when she gets out. What are some of your favorite “small” things?
If I drive my wife’s car, I put the seat back to where it was for her before I get out. It’s a pain in the ass to get out, but at least when she gets in she doesn’t have to do it.
and…
I never eat the last cookie.
My husband knows I like sunflowers and often brings them to me for no reason. Just one or two, no big bouquet needed.
Hubby always packs my bike jersey pocket with two raspberry Hammer gel packs, even if I’m only going out for an hour.
I lay my daughter’s uniform on the radiator for a few minutes before I wake her up to get ready for school. On the few days of the month I have custody of my SO, I always get up 1st and make a pot of tea to bring him a cup in bed when I wake him up.
i leave him welcome home notes in random places so when he gets back from the firehouse, he gets random little surprises!
oh and i also supply him with burts bees but hide them so he finds them randomly too!

Good post! This will get a lot of people thinking. It got me thinking. I was in the habit of leaving random notes for my BF in obscure location, and cards for no reasons. Unfortunately I have been slipping on things like that. This post is a reminder to not let the little things go. It is so important to the relationship to do the little things that show you care. I will say in my defense that I do give in to my BF a lot when it comes to things he wants for dinner or wants to watch on TV. Even though it may be something I detest to watch or not feel like eating I will let him have his way AND most importantly keep quiet about it. I will work on this “small things” thing. Thanks for the post
I send postcards to friends and family when I’m away - I think they like getting them, and I like writing them. Likewise, my mom sends little notes or cards a couple times a week. I think those are my favorite ‘little’ things ![]()
the towels-in-the-dryer is a good one!
well being the boyfriend in question…I never knew you didn’t want to eat those things. yeah I know you don’t care for poker but thanks for watching it anyways.
In her defense tho, she is a great girlfrined and I don’t care if she ever does anything for me…as long as she treats me nice and loves me…![]()
My boyfriend and I have lived apart for the past 5 years. When he comes to visit I always make sure the fridge is stocked with all his favourite things(chocolate milk, juice, sweedish berries, doritos). When he visits he always brings his swimming stuff. He’s not really interested in swimming but he knows that I will want to go train while he’s there and since we spend so much time apart he’ll come to the pool with me so its more time that we can spend together.
I make her a cute pink drink in a cute glass with an umbrella in it because I know how much that reminds her of vacation.
Once in a while I’ll sneak a small Scharffenberger chocolate into my wife’s purse before she leaves for work. I know sometime during her day she’ll have a sweet surprise.
call him and tell him “you’re my favorite”
every once in awhile buy a steak for him even though i try to have us eat more vegetarian (he loves steak)
clean on Friday so he can come home and relax after working hard all week
make him “sunday breakfast” with hand shredded hashbrowns, eggs over easy, toast fresh bread from bakery, and brew fresh ground coffee. i do all the work, and he gets to relax with the sunday newspaper.
I have found that back rubs/massages, given when someone is really tired or feeling stressed, can pay huge dividends…

I’d like to actually turn this around a bit and ask what little things does your partner do that YOU enjoy…that make YOU feel special?
I had a partner who would text me a good-morning and a poetic compliment every morning, and sometimes throughout the day. It would come at random times, but I knew he was thinking about me… I saved so many, and they still can make me melt.
He would even call “just to hear my voice”, even if he had nothing new to say, or if he was stressed at work, he’d call “just to hear a person who loved him”. I felt like a princess that I could be such a soothing influence for him. I LOVED that.
I don’t need fancy presents or expensive dinners. Someone can win points with me just by a text message or a one-sentence, funny, poignant email at an unexpected time.
that is awesome.
my husband is very service oriented–so he washes my car; does all the laundry (!!!); and will surprise me with an occasional trip to the grocery store (as usually that is what i do).
one day i had gone out on a 100 mile ride and he reorganized my closet and the entire bedroom! that was really great. ![]()
sometimes he’ll come in my office with a coffee, and say, “is there anything else i can get for you mrs gerwe?” it’s so cute, and really cracks me up.
thinking about this is a nice thing; wish i could hug him right now.
“thinking about this is a nice thing; wish i could hug him right now.”
Text him a loving ‘moment’…
For my hubby…
I’ll make the coffee the night before so it’s ready to go when he gets up. (I don’t drink coffee but love the smell of his)
He gets to go fishing as much as he wants in his free time. No questions or nagging from me.
Rub his back as he falls asleep.
I put up w/ having the fishing network channel on every.freaking.day, every.chance.he.can. I only draw the line at one show.
For me…
Leaves me notes in my fuel belt when I have a long race.
Ensures my bikes run properly and are always ready to ride. I can’t recall the last time I tuned my bike, thx to him.
Is my chauffeur. I have little to no depth perception and can’t drive so he shuttles me where I need to go - even when it’s not a good time for him.
Indulges my sweet tooth/love of junk food. (which is probably a bad thing but I love it!)
There are more but those were the ones I thought of first. He’s a great guy ![]()
that’s great stuff!
the one about how your husband drives you reminded me of one more: my husband will simplify maps and directions for me anytime i have to drive far away. it is so helpful! and he is so concerend about my well being, it’s really sweet. ![]()
My dog HAS GOT to touch me when she sleeps. Even if I move to break contact, she re-establishes contact right away. I think she likes me…
