While we might wallow in frozen tundra chained to our computrainers, or freezing our asses off on skis, snowshoes and speedskates, when the big thaw rolls around and we hit the Summer Sauna season, we are spoiled with an incredible linup of races (and I did not even covering all the races around here)

13 races in 14 weekends of racing most of them 20 min from home, some 40 min and a few 2-3 hours. If you are addicted to racing, being around Ottawa next summer is like being a kid in a candy store…and before anyone asks…NO I am NOT doing all those races, but likely 6-7 (one every two weeks). You guys in California need more guys like John Salt, Terry McKinty and Mitch Fraser to put on more races (or make a holiday and come up our way and enjoy some of the local racing)…

Don’t forget one of the sweetest races anywhere - that would be K-Town Long (August 6)!!
The other thing that “outsiders” should realize is that most of the races you listed have other distances attached to them, ranging from try-a-tris to sprints to olys to duathlons. It really is a cornucopia of race riches, and at prices that almost everyone can afford.
You left out Kingston. Should be #1 on the list IMO.
Yeah you are definitely missing lots, almost the entire Multisport line up. We can race every single weekend next year from about June 1 through to mid Sept, and in some cases twice in one weekend.
I guess that’s what happens when the other nine months of the year suck for weather for triathlon. It’s a great recipe for divorce city though (LOL just kidding, my wife is wonderfully understanding for letting me race)

Applies to any warm weather activity in the GWN. We hibernate 9 mos of the year and then try to cram a year’s worth of activities into 3 months.
The rest of the Multisport Canada is not within a short drive of Ottawa. Races within a short drive was the main point of my posting. Sure, if you live in Toronto, there are other races…
Agreed! While i am about 5hrs from Ottawa I live near the outpost of Parry Sound (pop. 6500) and i have 10
