Set out this morning to do a nice 32 mile loop. 10 miles into the ride, bam. The tube blowing sounded like a gunshot. Bummer. Got the back wheel off, changed the tube, pressed the button for the CO2 and BAM. It happened again. This time checked the tire more closely and saw there was a 1.5 inch seperation at the ridge. My tire was toast. Had one tube left. Got out my trusty emergency $20 and lined the tire with the bill. Aired up the tire just enough to give a little support. It held. It held all 10 miles home. I’d rather pedal slowly than walk 10 miles in bike shoes any day.
While I was working on the bike, there were 5 people who stopped and asked me I needed anything. One couple even road with me for 3 miles at 10 mph.
I was happy my repair worked long enough to get me home without any major problems. It was nice to have help offered several times. After I got home I headed over to Richardson Bike Mart to get a new tire and all is well. However, the bill is pretty messed up, I hope it still spends!
