IT band syndrome?

I have just started adding longer, more hilly training rides to my schedule and i am having a bit of pain in my exernal abdominal oblique area and alongside the it band area into the top of my knee. With an informed opininon from someone, does this sound like IT band syndrome. If so what are the realistic means of treating it. ps I have a race a week from now and i need tos till do a bit of hill training being the race goes up a large hill in a loop more than 20 times. Ive done the long rides b4 but this is the first chance ive had to do some real long hill training.

Mr. Taylor is correct. The archives have plenty of info, that’s how I found out I had the SOB Syndrome. BTY, I did all the suggested remedies religiously, and the only thing that worked for me was a cortesone shot. Did IMCDA three weeks ago with no problems. Try everything posible to get rid of the bastard. Your upcoming training of hills will most likely agravate it, so go easy on the downhills.
