Hi folks - I have a 2020 Quintana Roo PRFive seatpost clamp and recently bought a new Fizik Transiro Aeris R1 LD saddle, but am having some major trouble installing the saddle with the way the clamp is designed. The clamp is unique in that it requires both saddle rails to be inserted at the same time, with no wiggle room around it, and the opposite side is almost the exact same as the side shown in the picture.
Previously, I was able to slide in my ISM saddle from the back of the saddle rail where the bend is located, but the Fizik saddle doesn’t have that bend in the carbon rail. I’ve attached pictures of both the seatpost clamp and the saddle rails, curious if anyone else has any tips for installation as none of the media QR has on youtube is very helpful here. Pictured below are the rails for the Fizik saddle.
You may need a different saddle clamp. My wife has the Selle Italia bike seat and her clamp is different than the one I have for my ISM seat (I have the same version as you). If you look on their website this is the other clamp. I would check with QR before ordering.
I can’t recommend upgrading to QR’s newer saddle clamp enough. That old saddle clamp was a nightmare in comparison. New one is 1000 times easier to adjust and will fit oval or round rails.
update: ended up purchasing the new saddle clamp and agree with the above sentiment that it is so much better. unfortunately my saddle’s carbon rails have some flaws which makes me a bit skeptical to install and ride on them so I will be exchanging
