ISM Adamo (1)

Any opinions or experiances?

The search function is very useful, that is both my opinion and my experience…

I found the saddle to be worth it. I kept going numb despite my position on traditional saddles.

Only down fall with Adamo is that your nut sack gets pinched on either the left or right side every now and then from the split seat. I just re-direct and WHOA-LA - my balls are happy again.

You should do a search on this saddle as it’s been discussed many times (but I rarely use the search function so…). To tell you the truth, I never had any real problems on my previous saddle, like numbness, etc. but just for the fact that it can cause some problems with my general, I switched it out for this one. Your general will be hanging in the wind, no pressure what so ever on that area.

My general take on it is, it’s a little wide as my thighs keep rubbing against the prongs, it’s comfortable in the aero, not when you sit up.

There is no numbness with this saddle. It does work as advertised. However, I found the front too wide to be comfortable. So I sold it and got a Specialized Toupe 130mm instead.

Some of my riding buddies pointed out that you’re supposed to pull your sack down through the cut in the saddle. It keeps you from standing on the climbs but otherwise it works

Seriously, have the saddle and love it.

would you use it on a road bike as well, or just TT?

I have it on both bikes but haven’t been riding tons this year. It took some time to toughen things up down there but overall I’m pleased with them. Other saddles had an awkward bump in the center, this has eliminated the bump. Last year I was training more seriously than this year so I’m not logging lots of miles and don’t know what saddle I’d replace it with if I were in the market; I’d ssay they’re the most comfy I’ve had. Maybe that SLR but thats crazy expensive. JCobb posted that they have a 14 day return period. How can you go wrong?

use the adamo ROAD saddle on BOTH your bikes…

I just started using it and love it, if you sit on the very tip (as you are supposed to) the nose wont rub your inner thighs and your friends will hang nicely in front (not to the side and definetly not in the center of the nose). There is a picture of the correct posture on the ISM website.

I dont know about sitting up normal as I rarely do, so maybe you should only ride Aero…

A tip - this saddle comes in two styles: tri and road. Had I been buying on the internet I would have gone for tri…and been unhappy. My LTS (local tri shop) let me try each, and the road version fit me much better. One of them is wider in the front than the other (but I don’t remember which is which).

I like it.

Even in the correct posture it’s more than possible to rub your thighs on the Adamo - I did on mine. If you have your saddle mounted fairly far forward though a quick fix is just to use a plastic zip tie through the front of the rails to pll the two prongs together slightly - you can get a good degree of adjustability this way as long as the seatpost clamp is a way back.

That was my experience as well. It’s a very comfortable saddle to sit on, and there’s no numbing, but after a week of riding I had the worst chafing and saddle sores that I’ve ever had. I too switched it out for Specialized Toupe. I’ve been very happy with the Toupe.

Most comfortable saddle I’ve ever used, I’m now over 1500 miles into this one with many 100+ milers including long ride days back to back.

It can be tricky to setup though and will take some adjusting to initially. After 2 weeks if you have not fallen in love with it, you probably never will.

i agree with you. as long as you have enough core strengthening to remain in an anterior pelvic tilt and ride on the nose(s) of the saddle, flat. i think you’ll find the same position on the road bike geometry as well, as long as your not sitting up like a parachute.

Going to take this thread a tad OT, but what seat bag are you guys using for the Adamo or how are you guys strapping it on? The shape of the saddle is a little awkward so my bag goes beyond the back of the saddle but since it’s not strapped to the rear of the saddle, it then slides to the left or right of that “lip”. I thought this was discussed before but couldn’t find it on the search function.

i use rocket cage on frame if necessary or with hydrotail (new one has velcro straps for spare, etc). jersey pocket for cell phone so wife can pick me up!!! no saddle bag.
