Island Triathlon Series

The inaugural Island Triathlon Series™ (ITS) is coming to the Turks and Caicos Island of Providenciales on Saturday, December 1st, 2007.

ITS is the world’s newest and most anticipated triathlon and has gained a lot of media attention over the last few months. The event features an exclusive Island Eighty™ distance combining a 1 mile swim, 66 mile bike and 13 mile run, and will be broadcast in 85 countries world-wide including the US and Canada. To date ITS has attracted some of the world’s top pro-athletes including Chris Lieto, Chris McCormack, Lisa Bentley, Desiree Ficker, Rutger Beke, Chris Legh, Matt Reed and Marino Vanhoenacker. The Tri4Dignity™ fundraising program is an opportunity to participate in the race by raising dollars for a worthy cause and offsetting your travel costs. There is also a celebrity involvement - Chantal Kreviazuk will be singing the national anthem and at the post-race party; Trish Stratus - WWE 7X female champion and model and, Andy Baldwin – an accomplished triathlete who most recently appeared on ABC’s “The Bachelor: An Officer and a Gentleman” will be participating in our celebrity relay in support of AIDS. Our race will expand to other Caribbean Islands over the next four years culminating with a World Championship in 2010.

That’s a very nice distance. What’s the terrain like?

Hi Mito!

Thank you for showing interest in our race. The terrain for the bike and run portion is very smooth. Our website has a feature on it that allows you to see the elevation of each specific route.

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to www.islandtriathlonseries.com
  2. Click on “Course” in the top left
  3. Then click on either “Run Route” or “Bike Route”
  4. Then scroll down and click on “Elevation Profile”

Then a graph will show you the elevation of that route. Please feel free to peruse through the rest of the site, there is tonnes of information on there.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Amanda our race assistant at amanda@halainc.com

Thanks,
Hala

Looking at the elevation profile of the run course, I’m a bit worried by the hill just after 20km!!!

Plus that the length seems to be a little longer than the advertised 21km!!

The run course is completly flat. My apologies for the confusion with the elevation chart, It is in the midst of being changes from Km to Miles that way you are not uninformed.

I will email you as soon as the site is updated.

Thanks,
Hala
