Is Your Bike Really Clean?

If so, what brand of degreaser do you use to get lube splatters off the frame and what brand of polish do you use?

Just curious.

No its not. But I would like to know how the get lube splatters of my sheets.

Duuuude. Personal lubricants should be water soluble, so don’t sweat the small stuff.

Back to bikes, yo!

My bikes are spotless. I may not have the fastest bike in transition but I have the cleanest bike in transition.

I use Mothers when I wax my frames. I also use their polish for hubs and such!

Orange gegreaser and Pledge on my Klein’s paint. Klein’s have beuatiful paint!

If you want a spotless drivetrain get one of these:

And fill it with mineral spirits. No water base solvents will clean as well mineral spirits. My chain always looks new and my parts last longer because I’m able to clean them so well.

Been thinking about something like this. Didn’t know they were so cheap. Where do you buy the spirits?

Actually my chain and drive train I keep spotless. My last answer was not about my drivetrain. Because of where I live,it is dry(Montana)I have never needed to remove my chain to clean. As a lube I use Dumonde Lite. I aplly by q-tip(i know sounds anal)and then run through a terry cloth rag. After every ride run through the rag again, wipe down chain rings, every 100 cassette and pulleys. Only appl lube when I here the chain(I love stealth). Quite frankly I never understood the chain cleaning machine thing, maybe its the climate I live in,but it sems to me 90% of the people over-lube their chain. My last chin was shiny and bright after 4000,only replaced because I went with compacts and a different cassete. Though wiht only a couple of IM’s I am still a newbee(never biked till the IM goal).

You can get the mineral spirits at Home Depot or any hardware store in the paint section. It’s about $3-$4 dollars a gallon usually. You don’t even need the machine, you can just use a jar or pan. However the machine makes it sooo much easier!

My bikes are anally clean, as befits any good Marine. I’m a closet hippy tree-hugger though, so I only use natural solvents on the greasy parts and water everywhere else. Of course no polish on the nude carbon finish of my Talon SL. 100% pure carnuba wax on the painted frames.

I don’t know about those natural solvents. Seems like you just wind up washing down your lube and metal fragments into the sewer or wherever. You can use mineral spirits over and over. I’ve used the same mineral spirits for the last 5 years, the stuff will keep cleaning forever it seems.

I use wax lubes. As for the metal fragments. . .well, ya got me. But those metal fragments aren’t noted for harming environmental concerns like solvents and petro products are.
