I got a 2005 Teramo from a dude off Ebay for 1200 bux. Tons of upgrades, LBS mechanic was blown away when he saw it. Anyway, I took it out for a 44 miler a few days ago, and fell in love. The acceleration is unbelievable. It’s like you can feel the power going through the chainstays and propelling you forward. My last road bike was a Felt F90, and my Tri Bike is a Felt B2. There is such a huge difference in ride quality between carbon and titanium. I love my B2, but I see myself finding excuses to take the Litespeed out more often now on.
I’ve been on a Gangl titanium for about 3 months now. It is by far the best bike I have ever had. Love the ride, love the handling. I’ve also owned a QR Santo which was sweet.
Titanium is fine. I just left the ti world (yes it happens) and went completely to carbon for road and tri bikes. Litespeed to Trek. I can’t really tell any difference to be honest, and swear that the best riding tri bike I ever had was an aluminum Cervelo P3 from 2000. Go figure.
I’ve ridden them all…Ti is far superior, but you can’t get the fancy shapes that carbon can provide for aero swiftness. So, for mileage and comfort Ti reigns, for fancy shaped tubes on an aero bike, carbon is ideal.
I’ve got an older 650 ti frame I bought off ebay almost two years ago. Built it up on the cheap but it’s worked very nicely for me. I really like ti. It has a distinct ride quality. For the better.
Titanium can be made stiff and uncomfortable or can be made to ride like an armchair. It all depends on how good the builder is and what it’s meant to be used for.

I just spent 5 days riding an old aluminum Klein Quantum Pro in Tucson. It was a loaner from a friend. This bike is extraordinarily stiff and had amazing power transfer. I seem to recall that this bike sort of defined the pinnicle of aluminum frame greatness and it was a pretty nice ride overall. Ride was a bit harsh, but by backing off the tire presssure a bit, I was able to get it riding very well.
