Is this the tackiest thing you have ever seen

…or are there yet uncharted waters for us posers?

I want one.

Yes.

Does the second hand tick or sweep?

It sweeps of course, my darling.

This is just a mock-up of a proposed face for one that has been lying around. I’m sure I’ll realize how tacky this is before I do anything stupid.

No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the public…

I bet that you cant do that - when I got the M-Dot put on a jacket…that had an M Dot on the front of it - the people would not put it on with out written permission. That being said - I bet Timex has some contract about putting the M Dot (patented trademark) on a watch that is not a Timex.

even rolexes alone are tacky…

A Franklin or Grant to Mr. Chin could make it happen…

I bet that you cant do that
How much? Wait–are you just trying to goad me into something?

Timex may have something to say about that!

Fleck

Oh, and my Submariner would contantly stop and jam if I wore it on really long rides (bumpy roads)…switch to Tag Heuer man…dont look back.

yeah really tacky… you should give them to me ha haha…

Any Rolex is tacky. It just shows that the owner has a need to tell the world he is well off. This is different from people who appreciate a real horological masterpiece like a Jaeger-LeCoultre, Patek or Girard-Perregaux and so on. These of course should be of a vintage and most likely have been passed down to you. This is were Nuevo Riche lawyers and bike shop owners can easily be picked out of the crowed in a cocktail party with their two-tone Rolex Explorer.

Trying to show off that you have done an Iornman by engraving it on the dial is even tackier. It is, to my mind, the tackiest watch ever. I’ll prefer a Timex with an Ironman logo instead.

Unlike Rolex who make their movements in-house, Tag is just a design house. They make the cases from an outsourced factory and install inside simple ETA movements that many other cheap Swiss watches have. RecordCarbon10 – I thought you have style and love machines with soul. These Tags are just mass-manufactured fashion accessories.

What will happen when you do more races?

Does this come in Carbon Fiber?

Funny thing I have noticed that many seasoned business men, like the kind of guys who will be on a board of directors, will dress like homeless bums but wear very nice ($10K+) watches.

“Any Rolex is tacky. It just shows that the owner has a need to tell the world he is well off”

Snobbery at it’s best. I own a steel and gold Rolex Submariner with a black face that was given to me as a gift upon my graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy. It has a nice inscription on the back, but I guess it’s just tacky of my parents to have given me such a horological piece of crap.

Your parents meant well and wanted the best for you. They knowledge of what is best was probably based on adverts and marketing.

“They knowledge of what is best was probably based on adverts and marketing.”

I’m not sure how that matters if they could only have done well by giving me a vintage, handed down heirloom timepiece. The truth is that anyone who judges all people the same based on the watch they wear is missing something, especially if they restrict their approval to watches that only a handful of people could possibly own. That’s like saying that anyone who drives a Lexus is tacky because a Bentley has a better heritage. It’s bunk.

Damn, that’s a watch face? I thought is was a disc wheel!!! You know, the hole in the middle is for the hub and then that other kinda square hole on the side is for the tire valve. Well, this will certainly force me to rethink my position on the tacky/not tacky debate regarding this item!
