Is this crazy or is it just me?

are you someone waging between first and second place?

it is probably a cumulitive effect. little bits of weight added up from alot of places. for those who are at the very top where milaseconds matter, it’s important.

however, for most of us it is totally a mute point. the additional 2-20+ pounds of body weight we carry negates any advantage of lighter equipment.

just like with swimmers. the shark suits and all of that can make a difference at the very top levels, but for most of us.

I have a set of each, its not the weight, its the holding power. I cannot race in the classic pedals, if I start with the shoes clipped into the pedals. If your feet are wet about every 3rd time to go to pull your foot out it torques the shoe right out of the pedal. I use the regular Keo Carbons and they are way tighter. I tightened the adjustment all the way on the classics and they still do it. My wife uses the classics with no trouble but does not do the flying dismounts or mounts, I hope this helps.

i’m not in a predicament where i have to choose one of the pedals. that point of this post is to show how much people will pay to be lighter, like in zero gravity brakes, etc.

Well then it is just you! Some people like to spend ungodly amounts and be able to take some satisfaction in how their bike turns out.

I suppose if I had money to spare, I might do the same. Although this would be after I had bought a first and second home, a nice sports car and regular vacations! Then I might consider spending $100s on each gram saved on my bicycle…
